Emily Calandrelli, author of the Ada Lace series, hosted a STEM fair in her hometown of Morgantown, WV. The event was held before her book signing at Barnes & Noble. She invited many outreach programs from West Virginia University and the community. Some of the groups included:
- NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium
- WVU’s Society of Women Engineers
- WVU’s Amateur Radio Club
- Students who participated in the Mars Ice Challenge
- MARS
Many of the groups had tables with various activities for youth to engage in. Emily herself helped kids make bottle rockets. Others shared knowledge of ham radios and explained details of the International Space Station. The NASA WVSGC office promoted their upcoming event, an ISS Downlink, which is the opportunity to talk to astronauts from the ISS as they orbit Earth.
