COVERAGE

What is COVERAGE?

Competition of VEX Educational Robotics to Advance Girls Education (COVERAGE) is a project to inspire and support female middle and high school students to pursue STEM careers in West Virginia. Through attendance and participation in the robotics clubs and competitions, these students are predicted to become more knowledgeable and interested in STEM disciplines. COVERAGE is funded by the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation and has helped teachers to organize all-girls robotics clubs in Kanawha, Fayette, Lincoln, Putnam, and Clay Counties.

The COVERAGE program provides support to new or existing all-girls teams in the VEX Robotics CompetitionVEX IQ Robotics Competition, and/or RECF Aerial Drone Competition. In addition, we have equipment grants available for VIQC and ADC teams.

COVERAGE Expo

The COVERAGE Expo, May 22, 2024 at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences in Charleston, will bring together participating COVERAGE teams, other all-girls robotics teams, and individual girls who are interested in STEM or robotics. The expo will run from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM and will include a featured panel of graduate students in STEM. A light morning snack and lunch will be provided.

If you’re an all-girls robotics team, don’t take your robots apart! The expo will also feature exhibition matches and demonstrations in the VRC, VIQRC, and ADC programs.
